For all of the antiquated sites in Venice, my favorite spot still is the modern home-cum-museum of Peggy Guggenheim. She lived in eccentric style amongst many lhasa apso companions. The way the light shines throughout the space, the way the water from the Grand Canal continually laps onto the palazzo's foundation, the way the trees in the back provide shade and privacy---it's all a Venetian dream. If any of my girls ever decide to study abroad, I will encourage them to apply for an internship here. The only prerequisites? A love for art and an understanding of the Italian language...
