I try to be in the habit [insert other nun puns here!] of taking the children to meet the Sister Servants of the Holy Spirit of Perpetual Adoration at the cloistered convent here in Lincoln during their annual children's adoration hours. In preparation to meet the Pink Sisters again, we made some funny hand puppets, inspired by Lacy Rabideau's Catholic Icing. Claire loves the color pink; it is one of her most favorite things. The nuns always plant the seed: "Will you be a pink sister someday? Will you? Perhaps this little baby girl will one day be a pink sister!" It is beautiful to meet these women, totally devoted to our Lord in a lifetime of prayer in front of the Blessed Sacrament. Do you have a prayer request? Write to them, and they will pray for you! They will pray for you even when you might have forgotten to pray for yourself. These spiritual and selfless women are women of *real substance* in today's banal and self-centered world. I love that women such as these---who forego earthly trappings for a total devotion to the eternal---can become role-models for my little girls. What makes a woman beautiful? Her interior life dedicated to prayer and service for others.
