Divine Mercy Sunday

Thomas received his First Communion this Sunday!!! Yesterday, Thomas requested another round of Penance so "all the worms can crawl out of my soul". I asked him where he heard this idea of worms vis-a-vis his soul, and he shrugged his shoulders and told me he just thought of it that way. "With mortal sin, worms and cockroaches take over..." I told him he sounds like a medieval saint! He received Jesus with a clean conscience and was so JOYFUL and HAPPY and CHEERFUL afterward. The most important day of his life save for his baptism...

Today not only was Divine Mercy Sunday (Maggie's Confirmation saint is St. Faustina), but it is also the anniversary of our girls' NICU baptism, St. Gianna Molla's feast day [see here], and, for extra consolations, today's Gospel was from the book of St. John about the Apostle Thomas. During the homily, Msgr. Nemec pointed to the stained glass window that shows St. Thomas reaching into Jesus' side---our Thomas felt that the day was made just for him. "O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of mercy for us, I trust in You!" Amen!

Also, this note arrived in the mail from our bishop. As cousin (and Maggie's Godfather) Brian Reinhardt says, "Extra credit!"
