all about love...bell hooks

Redeemed and restored, love returns us to the promise of everlasting life. When we love we can let our hearts speak.

We want to know love. We are simply afraid the desire to know too much about love will lead us closer and closer to the abyss of lovelessness.

Commitment to truth telling lays the groundwork for the openness and honesty that is the heartbeat of love.

There can be no love without justice.

Abuse and neglect negate love. Care and affirmation, the opposite of abuse and humiliation, are the foundation of love. No one can rightfully claim to be loving when behaving abusively.

When we see love as a combination of trust, commitment, care, respect, knowledge, and responsibility, we can work on developing these qualities or, if they are already a part of who we are, we can learn to extend them to ourselves.

We can encourage friends and loved ones to move toward greater self-love by supporting them in any effort to leave work that assaults their well-being.

Trust is the heartbeat of genuine love.

Love was not what made you feel bad, hate yourself. It was what comforted you, freed you up inside, made you laugh.

To live our lives based on the principle of a love ethic (showing care, respect, knowledge, integrity, and the will to cooperate), we have to be courageous. Learning how to face our fears is one way we embrace love.
